Ode to My Chuck Taylors

Here’s a new poem, “Ode to My Chuck Taylors,” just for here….enjoy.  Doug

Ode to My Chuck Taylors

On a listless Sunday afternoon
My black hi-top Chuck Taylors
Lie waiting on the hardwood floor
Classic, cool, casual
They beckon me to dance
With abandon and intrigue
Like lovers of my past and
The way we used to be

Always tied together,
Always a pair
Always in love

When I was young, I wore them
Because they were hip
When I grew older, I wore them
Because they were no longer hip
Then, I wore them because
I didn’t care what was hip
Now, I wear them because
I no longer know what is hip

Always tied together
Always a pair
Always in love
