Doug Hoekstra is a Chicago-bred Nashville based musician, writer, and road master extraordinaire, eight albums of original material released on labels throughout the  U.S. and Europe, playing bookstores, coffeehouses, clubs, pubs, radio stations, colleges, and castles on both sides of the pond, solo and full band.  Highlights included Nashville Music Award and Independent Music Award nominations, lots of Top 10 lists and many laminate fests.   His latest platter “The Day Deserved,” his first in a decade, was released to highwater praise in 2021.    Hoekstra’s stories, poems, and essays have appeared in numerous print and online journals, his debut collection Bothering the Coffee Drinkers, earning a Independent Publisher Award (IPPY) for Best Short Fiction (Bronze Medal) and “Ten Seconds In-Between”, his latest collection of short stories, earning a Royal Dragonfly Award (Best Short Story Collection 2021) and Next Generation Indie Book Award (Finalist 2022).
