Doug Hoekstra is a Nashville based musician and writer, road master, and observer.   Educated at DePaul University (B.A.) and Belmont University (M.Ed.), Hoekstra first worked extensively as a musician, writing and arranging eight albums of original material released on labels in the U.S. and Europe playing bookstores, coffeehouses, clubs, pubs, radio stations, colleges, and castles on both sides of the pond, solo and with combos in tow.  Highlights included Nashville Music Award and Independent Music Award nominations, lots of Top 10 lists and many laminate fests.  His stories, poems, and essays have appeared in numerous print and online journals, with his debut collection Bothering the Coffee Drinkers, earning a Independent Publisher Award (IPPY) for Best Short Fiction (Bronze Medal).  Since then, Hoekstra has written two subsequent books, of fiction and poetry, respectively, with new music (The Day Deserved songs) and literature (Ten Seconds In-Between stories) slated for 2021.
