Alan Glass – A Poem

Last year in Montreal, came upon a really good exhibit on Alan Glass at the Museum of Fine Arts.  I didn’t know much about him, but I was taken with his approach and his art, and so I wrote the following snippet, which is supposed to be something of a mirror to the work.  Enjoy.

Alan Glass

Spent thirty years in Mexico City on a tourist visa
which impressed me as much as any single work
in the exhibit
though all of it was cool
as a communication tool

Hummingbirds fly between life and death
crows dance upon the tarot
who knows what dreams can be seen
if we put two and two together…and make five

Make it happen, make it move, make it live
Dream of your life of freedom
Dream of your sense of self
