Pleased to share a new short story, “Eggshells,” now live at Canopic Jar. As you’ll see, the story is set in four movements in one man’s life, examining the notion of what is truth, and if people really want to hear it.

In a bit of backstory, Canopic Publishing is an imprint formerly based in Nashville, now operating in Woodstock, Illinois, and run by an old friend and considerable poet, Phil Rice. I met Phil many years ago, while working a temp gig proofing legislation in the basement of the Tennessee State Capitol; since then, he’s been kind enough to publish my first book, the Independent Publisher Award nominated “Bothering the Coffee Drinkers,” and feature several of my scribblings in his print and online zines. Lots of great authors up on the current site, so feel free to take a look around and spend some time with them, as well.
In a bit more backstory, this piece, “Eggshells,” was written while I was visiting Montgomery, Alabama, staying in the house where F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald decamped for awhile and he wrote most of “Tender is the Night.” In no way would I put myself on the level of one of our greatest American authors, but I wanted to tackle something while I was there and hopefully channel some of that talent and make a good karma connection.
